History:

Named after the Chinese god of happiness, the Fu Shen herb is known to be stabilizing for mood, sleep, and memory. Particularly aiding insomnia, anxiety, and amnesia. Poria with Hostwood also mildly encourages urination and has diuretic effects. Those with yin deficiency should use caution, as well as those with sunken Spleen qi. It can be also be used to calm the shen. 

Poria Cocos Sclerotium is commonly known as the Poria mushroom, which is known to have many medicinal qualities. Some of the beneficial compounds are polysaccharides, caprylic acid, lauric acid, histamines, glucose, and fats. The Fu Shen herb grows primarily on wood, usually pine (Japanese and Masson). Its thick exterior skin is dark brown and the white inner part is what is usually consumed.
