Chinese Herb: Rou Cong Rong
$6.00 – $70.00
Rou Cong Rong (Broomrape); Cistanche Deserticolae; Cistanches Herba
Rou Cong Rong, or the stem of the Broomrape plant, is a heavy, sweet material. Our Cistanche is a very nice gooey, flexible, sweet smelling specimen, somewhat remniscent to Sheng Di Huang. Where Sheng Di Huang is a Blood tonic, Rou Cong Rong is a mild yang tonic, warming in nature and sweet on the palette.
Our Rou Cong Rong is prepared from the raw. Once it is dried it is rinsed and soaked to remove impurities, with the water being changed twice daily. The root is then steamed in red rice wine; this is what gives it the darker color. When it is prepared with wine the ability of this herb to tonifyKidney Yang is strengthened.
