Tian Nan Xing acts to dry dampness, resolve phlegm, dispel wind, stop spasms, reduce swelling, and alleviate pain.

Literally meaning, "Star of the Southern Heavens", the treated form of Arisaema, or Jack-in-the-Pulpit, is a very strong herb to resolve phlegm and belongs to the same family as Ban Xia (Pinellia). Both herbs have a similar function.

Arisaema is also available in its bile-treated form, Dan Nan Xing.
