Description

Si Wu Tang / Dang Gui Four Combination

Also known commonly as Four Things Soup and Four Substances Decoction, this is a famous and popular tonic recipe used in Classical Herbalism. It is a fantastic Blood tonic (in contrast to Four Gentlemans Herbs qi tonic) and many other formulas stem from this basic combination. This Blood tonic is ideal for martial artists because while it uses herbs that nourish Blood, it also increases cardiovascular circulation to remove stasis, and is not as stagnating as some other Blood tonics.

Ingredients

Angelica Slices, Cooked Rehmannia, White Peony, Ligusticum.

Preparation Instructions

To prepare, simply pour the ground Chinese herbs into a non-metallic pot with up to 1 gallon of water (less water produces a smaller amount of stronger tea). Bring to a boil, simmer for 40 minutes, and then strain the herbs. Store the tea in the refrigerator and drink 1/2 cup 2 times per day between meals. You can also add a small amount of honey to increase the tonic properties of the decoction, as well as for flavor. Alternatively, ground herbs can also be mixed with some honey and made into small pills, which are then baked in the oven.

This product will last approximately 14 days. Prepare 1 bag every 3 months around the break of each season.

  1. Nathan Mangile

This stuff really helped my digestion and energy levels. And very affordable. Great stuff!

  2. R Fu

I love this stuff. I brewed a couple of gallons worth, and at Josh’s suggestion also bought some ginseng.

After brewing and with a little honey, this stuff is fantastic. It is calming but brings the overall energy levels up. It tastes great. The scent made it seem like it would taste much different. I especially enjoyed it hot, but bottled it up for future use.

  3. Norris Heckwine

I chose to prepare this as an aged “wine” rather than to boil it as a tea. I found it very refreshing and seems to increase energy flow and adds a sense of wellbeing. I will be putting up additional “wines” to age even more to see if that increases its effectiveness.
