Hu Po, or the well-known resinous amber, is considered a Shen-calming herb in Chinese herbalism, one of the few categories of herbs that are commonly utilized for symptomatic treatment. In addition to its sedative-like action, amber is also coincidentally used to dispel stasis in order to aid in the reduction of hot excess swellings.
Hu Po is sweet and neutral in energy and enters the Heart, Liver, and Bladder meridians.
