Ou Jie sits among a number of other herbs that originate from the same plant: the Lotus. Commonly referred to as the "node", Ou Jie is an important stop-bleeding herb. Through its astringent properties, it both stops bleeding as well as moves the blood.

Ou Jie is sweet in flavor and neutral in energy. Ou Jie enters the Lung, Stomach, and Liver meridians.
