The fruit of the Fennel Seed is in a class of herbs that warm the interior and expel cold. As such it is acrid in flavor and warm in energy. It operates on the Liver, Kidney, Spleen, and Stomach meridians. It is often used as a pain reliever, and to regulate the Qi of the Stomach.

Xiao Hui Xiang acts to dispel cold, stop pain, regulate qui and harmonize the stomach.
